Pequod Acoustics makes high quality audio equipment for professional users and audiophiles. The company began as a research project in pursuit of the highest acoustic quality possible, combining new technology and manufacturing techniques with overlooked acoustical theory.

Enlisting the collaboration of experts in speaker components, composite construc- tion, and acoustics, we created products that exceeded our highest expectations. Now, after years of refinement and experimentation, we have a range of speakers to meet any need, a worldwide distribution network, and many custom installations in nightclubs, discos, and other prestigous venues all over the world.

The Name

The whaling ship ‘Pequod’ sailed across the globe under the command of captain Ahab in the classic novel Moby Dick. This journey was propelled by the captain’s quixotic dream, the skills of the men crewing the vessel, and the advanced industrial technology of the day. Pequod Acoustics rides on a shared dream of perfect musical sound, the talents of a passionate group of engineers venturing into new acoustic ter- ritory, and the world-leading quality of the Italian high-end audio component sector. Nautical themes continue into the actual construction of the devices: the thin com- posite shells are made from the same materials used to construct racing sailboats, making them incredibly strong and, if damaged, easily repaired. On the company logo there is an abstraction of the Sawfish, an animal that senses acoustic vibrations and electrical currents to hunt its prey on the ocean bottom.

All our products are designed and manufactured strictly by hand in Italy according to the quality and rigour of our people. The extreme quality achieved represents the best that the commercial panorama of professional acoustics can offer.

Pequod Acoustics redefines the maximum level of luxury and exclusivity. Our units were created by our engineers in the pursuit of sonic perfection at any cost. An unin- tentional but welcome consequence is that they look like nothing else available. We have designed the armatures and support systems to emphasize the unique nature of the speaker bodies, and when arranged they offer a unique visual aspect that sets us even further apart from the competition. Color can be completely customized as needed, and other graphics can be requested, along with the possibility of video projection directly onto the speaker bodies. The visual impact of a Pequod speaker system can be just as powerful as the sounds that they produce.

The Story

Pequod Acoustics was born in Florence, Italy, a town best known for the artistic cre- ations of the renaissance masters. The company taps into a local spirit of innovation and research that has never diminished, as the region is today home to several re- nowned manufacturers of high-end audio components, along with specialists in other industrial sectors that have been critical in developing and producing these speakers. The working philosophy of Pequod Acoustics is simple: no compromises, tireless re- search, and unique solutions. Our speakers derive from many years of pure research aimed at perfecting the horn loaded speaker, at first without any commercial intent. They were officially presented to the world at the Prolight and Sound Fair, in Frank- furt, in April 2019. Pequod Acoustics’ speakers already reside in some of the most exclusive clubs, events and locations in the world and some very lucky villa owners use them for their private entertainment.
